Conference on Local Youth Plans
Except of Tirana, the capital of Albania, no other city has a Local Action Plan for Youth built in cooperation with young people and approved by the City Council. The National Youth Congress with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation receives for the first time the initiative to build these plans in cooperation with networking organizations. During the year, 12 meetings were held with local organizations, municipal representatives, media and 12 local coordinators who prepared the conceptual basis with data on the plan, issues and objectives for each municipality. At the final conference "Towards a more effective dialogue" these 12 draft plans were presented to the community of donors, embassies and other relevant stakeholders dealing with youth issues at the local level.
Youth Activism Manual - A New Moment for Promoting Activism
Schools and gymnasiums curriculum does not include education on activism. This has led young people willing to become active, to be less informed about activism and struggle from the lack of information on how to become activists. The "Youth Activism Manual - A New Moment for Promoting Activism" project, implemented with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, was intended to provide a useful handbook for young people who are active in the community and those who want to become part of it. This manual contained information on what an organization is, how they enroll in court, what structures they have, what is advocacy, lobbying, and many other information that a young person might need. Within this project were conducted 12 training's throughout Albania and finalized with a competition at the national level where 12 youth groups that were part of the training's from 12 cities were competing for the best advocacy and lobbying campaign. This project provided young people with valuable information on the opportunities and support they have from donors and institutions when it comes to the willingness to make changes.
