The Secretariat is the responsible body for the implementation of all activities of the NYC. The Secretariat of the NYC is managed by the Executive Director. Other Secretariat members are responsible for specific work based on the department they are attached to and the interns give their full support in assisting to the Secretariat work. The NYC Secretariat consists of the following members:
Dafina Peci is a political scientist who works as the Secretary General of the National Youth Congress of Albania and as a Pedagogue Assistant for Classical and Contemporary Political Philosophy, Politics and Democracy in South East Europe at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Social Sciences, Political Science Department.
She holds Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Affairs and “Master of Science” in Regional Policy. Since she was young she contributed to community development and youth engagement in politics by entering and leading various organizations, networks and campaigns youth. Step by step it adheres to local youth organizations initially and then to national structures in the role of the leader, making it professionally competent in the field of youth politics and political discourse of civil society.
Dafina also has been engaged in the working group to establish the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) in the first steps and is a representative of the Albanian youth in the Steering Board of this structure. This initiative has brought it personally and professionally to a broader range of youth policy and political perspectives as well.
Shila Parllaku is program coordinator who holds a Bachelor degree in Administration and Social Policy at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Social Sciences.
She has been part of the organization for one year contributing to various youth projects and forums. However she has had ongoing experience with volunteer organizations since she was very young. Her interests and skills are working and empowering the youth, team building and sustainable knowledge activities.
She looks forward to developing her passion and experience at the National Youth Congress with excited like-minded individuals by working towards a common, empowering goal.
Ili Gërdupi Legal Coordinator Program / Legal Adviser Gerdupi was born on July 20 in Tirana. He holds a BA in Law, and a Master in European Union Law from the University of Tirana. Currently he is completing a Master in Information Society Law at the University of Turku, Finland.
Mr. Gerdupi has been working as a volunteer in various organizations in Albania for more than ten years. In 2011 he founded the Albanian Volunteer Network, an NGO focused on promoting volunteer work among young people. In 2015 Mr. Gërdupi was elected as a board member of the National Youth Congress, and in 2016 he was elected its president. Currently he is engaged as a member of the Secretariat in NYC, serving as a Legal Adviser.
Xhulio Nikolli has completed Bachelor studies in Economics and Master of Science in Finance at the University of Tirana. Academic formation in addition to the theoretical aspect has been coupled with scientific research with econometric analysis by analyzing the impact of economic and social factors on different phenomena, micro- and macroeconomic analysis.
Experience and involvement in Civil Society for a 12-year period at the local level as leader of the Lezha Youth Parliament for 2009-2010 as well as a board member of the National Youth Congress for the years 2015-2017 have created the opportunity for a knowledge of institutions at the level local as well as central level. Currently, Xhulio works as a private entrepreneur and executive director of New Generation Brave and part of the General Secretariat of the National Youth Congress.
Dorina Zhuka is a young, undergraduate volunteer currently pursuing a Law degree in University of New York Tirana. She has been part of various organizations since she was very young, starting from the Child Governance Program of Save the Children in Albania. She has also coordinated several local youth projects, such as conducting a web radio (Underdo), and awareness raising campaigns towards the importance of youth participation in decision making, while also representing Albanian children in the UPR process in the United Nations. Due to this early participation in NGOs she has had the opportunity to develop many soft skills and also participate in many workshops, capacity building activities as well as youth exchanges.
She is very passionate to further develop her capacities with a special interest on advocacy, project writing and project management, as well as youth empowerment and participation in decision making. Dorina evaluates her engagement in NYC not only as an opportunity to further develop herself but also as a great experience in terms of youth cooperation and intellectual exchange.
Kristian Petro was born on June 29th 2000 in the town of Korça. He is currently studying for economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana. He has good communication and organization skills and argumentative abilities. Since he was very young, Kristian has been part of the student`s government and some other volunteering activities in the youth center of Korca.
Sali Lilaj was born on April 12, 1986 in the city of Tirana. He is a graduate of the Rural Development Policy Department at the Agricultural University of Tirana. Saliu is one of the founders of Congress and has made a great contribution, in project management and relationship management with partners.
He believes that youth organization is the only way to establish democracy in the country from the young generation, which is the future and the present of any transition country.
Edmond Axhami was born on January 17, 1995 in the city of Kukës. He has a Bachelor degree on Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana and holds a master degree in Politics and Governance in Europe at the Institute of European Studies, 2015-2017.
Edmond is interested in working for helping and solving different youth problems. He has participated in several conferences, trainings with organizations, local and international donors. He thinks that the contribution made for helping young people is the best service that can be made to the country.
